Why Diets Don’t Work

It is difficult for most people to imagine themselves eating healthy consistently for longer than half a year. And it’s very understandable: we are conditioned to think about our healthy food in terms of “diets”. Health in most people’s minds is equal to
- effort
- straining
- pressure
- restriction
- not enjoyable
- for “freaks”
Meaning: health intentions are doomed to die a silent death after a short time of deprivation and growing frustration. That’s the reason why diets don’t work: they only ask for a short time vision such as: losing 5 or 10 or 20 pounds or fitting into your favourite little black dress for that special occasion. But health is much more than a short focus: it is a state of mind.
